Mapa Scotland, Barony Castle, Borders

Juste au nord de Peebles dans les Borders se trouve un site unique en son genre: une carte topographique 3D de l'Ecosse construite en ciment et exposee en plein air dans les jardins du chateau hotel Barony. La carte a ete creee par un petit groupe de Polonais dans les annees 70 :

The Great Polish Map of Scotland

The Great Polish Map of Scotland is a globally unique feature in the Scottish landscape. It is a large physical relief map of Scotland, sculpted in concrete and measuring some 40m by 50m. It stands in the grounds of Barony Castle, Eddleston, once the home of the Murrays of Elibank, and later the Hotel Black Barony.

Non seulement il s'agit d'un petit tresort cache, une realisation speciale et pour le moins remarquable, mais le site a ete nettoye et restore il y a a peine 2 mois. Autour de ce relief montagneux et de terres decoupees parsemees d'ile, la "mer" a ete restituee. 

De plus, les jardins du Barony Castle valent bien une petite promenade, meme en saison hivernale.
